Getting a Police Vision Assessment is very similar to a standard eye examination. We will conduct the following
These requirements are required for any police officer so that duties can be performed safely.
Vision with glasses or contact lens must be at least 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other
No corrective lens or glasses must be at least 20/60 in each eye or 20/40 in one and 20/100 in the other.
Must correctly identify at least 17 of 21 patterns without any colour-correcting aids.
With both eyes open and examined together, the field of vision is at least 150 degrees continuous along horizontal and 20 degrees continuous above and below fixation.
This testing is only required if you have had corrective surgery.
You can find a downloadable version of the Calgary Police Services vision report here. If you have had previous eye surgeries, you need this report and form.
